SAGINAW VALLEY BEEKEEPERS ASSOCIATION BY-LAWS
ARTICLE I PURPOSE
Section I
The purpose of the Saginaw Valley Beekeepers Association shall be the education of the members of the association, social activities, and promotion of the value of honey bees.
ARTICLE II MEMBERSHIP
Section I
Membership is open to any person interested in the art of Beekeeping. Minimum age of voting member shall be limited to fifteen years or older, except as decided by officers.
ARTICLE III OFFICERS
Section I
This association will be governed by officers consisting of:
President
Vice-President
Secretary/Treasurer
Section II
The duties of the President shall be:
1. to preside over meetings
2. to co-ordinate activities of committees & officers
3. immediate past President becomes Chairman of Nominating Committee
Section III
The duties of the Vice-President shall be:
1. to preside over meetings in the absence of the President
2. Chairman of Educational Committee
3. to become nominated for President
Section IV
The duties of the Secretary/Treasurer shall be:
1. to record minutes of the meetings
2. to assume responsibility for collections and disbursement of funds. Separate records of each are to be maintained. These records are to be audited by the officers prior to the annual meeting.
Section V
Officers shall be elected at the annual meeting from the active membership, term of offices to be one (1) year.
ARTICLE IV MEETINGS
Section I
Meetings shall be held Monthly, on the day decided by majority of members.
Section II
Annual meetings shall be in December.
Section III
Special meetings can be called y the President or a majority of members
Section IV
The meeting place shall be determined at each Monthly meeting.
ARTICLE V DUES
Section I
Dues shall be $5, whether you are single or family. You also have an option to pay the membership fee of the Michigan Beekeepers Association with a 50% rebate to our Association and the Saginaw Valley Association.
Section II
Amount of dues to be reviewed at each annual meeting.
Section III
Single membership entitles the person to one vote. Family membership entitles the family unit to two votes only.
ARTICLE VI AMMENDMENTS
Section I
These rules of procedure, in whole or in part, may be altered, amended, added to or repealed by a majority vote of the members at any regular of special meeting, provided that notice of the proposed alterations, amendments or repeal, shall be submitted by mail to all members at least fifteen (15) days before the regular or special meeting of the association at which they are to be considered.
ARTICLE VII AMMENDMENTS
Section I
Three committee chairmen are to be appointed by the President, consisting of:
Education Committee
Social Committee
Promotional Committee
Section II
Any additional committees are to be appointed as deemed necessary by the officers.
ARTICLE VIII MISCELLANEOUS
Section I
A quorum shall be considered 25% of paid membership.
Section II
Upon dissolution of Saginaw Valley Beekeepers Association any funds shall be turned over to a Charitable of Service organization agreed upon by the voting members present at said meeting.

AMMENDMENT TO THE BY-LAWS OF THE SAGINAW VALLEY BEEKEEPERS ASSOCIATION
Section IV, V and VI are to be amended as follows:
Section IV
The duties of the Secretary shall be:
1. to record minutes of the meetings
2. records of the meetings are to be maintained
Records are to be audited by officers prior to the annual meeting.
Section V
The duties of the Treasurer shall be:
1. to assume responsibilities for collections and disbursement of funds.
2. financial records are to be maintained.
Financial records are to be audited by officers prior to the annual meeting.
Section VI
Officers shall be elected at the annual meeting from the active membership – term of office to be two (2) years.
